Siesta Key Public Beach With a Live Artist enhances your visit to this paradise island. Watch local Siesta Key – Sarasota artist Lloyd Dobson capture on canvas this tropical paradise island at the Siesta Key public beach pavilion upper level patio every Wednesday beginning June 29, 2016 – 9am to 12pm. You can go to his website, click on the ART SHOWS and LIVE EVENTS tab.
Siesta Key is a barrier island off the central western coast of Florida in the United States of America. It is situated between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. A portion of it lies within the city boundary of Sarasota, but the majority of the key is a census-designated place in Sarasota County.
Featuring 99% quartz, Siesta Key is proud of its sand. Siesta Key even won an award from the International Sand Contest in 1987 for having the best overall sand anywhere! That means that Siesta Key has the best sand in the WORLD! Even the Travel Channel agrees. In 2004, the Travel Channel’s Best Beaches in America show featured Siesta Key as the Best Sand Beach…on the planet!
A short drive from downtown Sarasota, Siesta Key sits adjacent to the glittering Gulf of Mexico and its Siesta Public Beach has been named one of the nation’s best. Siesta Key is known for it’s world class powdery white quartz sand beaches. It has 100 golf courses within driving distance, and an endless selection of cultural and family activities.
Siesta Key is the laid-back beach town that goes above and beyond. Right nearby in Sarasota, you’ll find museums, art, wildlife, circuses, opera, ballet, symphonies, theater, film festivals, botanical gardens, baseball spring training… the list goes on.
Siesta Key accommodations range from the simplicity of a hotel to the convenience of a week-long (or more) rental. From cozy, beach-side cottages outfitted with the basics to posh condominium complexes complete with every amenity imaginable, there’s an option for all visitors and budgets. Of course, no matter where you choose to stay, Siesta Beach, Crescent Beach or Turtle Beach are just a short walk away.
When you arrive at the Siesta Key public beach pavilion make sure you stop by and say hello and maybe pause a moment and watch me create a painting inspired by this incredible tropical paradise island. You can also catch me every Sunday morning at the Siesta Key Farmers Market at 5104 Ocean Blvd in the Village from 8am to 1pm.
