Siesta Key is a barrier island off the central western coast A - Blue Lifeguard Shack - TEMPLATEof Florida in the United States of America. It is situated between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. A portion of it lies within the city boundary of Sarasota, but the majority of the key is a census-designated place in Sarasota County.

Featuring 99% quartz, Siesta Key is proud of its sand. Siesta Key even won an award from the International Sand Contest in 1987 for having the best overall sand anywhere! That means that Siesta Key has the best sand in the WORLD! Even the Travel Channel agrees. In 2004, the Travel Channel’s Best Beaches in America show featured Siesta Key as the Best Sand Beach…on the planet!
